Willy’s Top Five: Days of the Week

I couldn’t think of a good blog idea. I was looking at my Blackboard calendar and looked at the days of the week. So I guess I’ll rank them.

days-of-the-week.jpg

5. Monday

The beginning of many new opportunities and new things to learn!

4. Sunday

Probably the best day of the week in the fall. I’ll miss spending my whole Sunday afternoon at Logan’s house watching NFL season ticket while eating the famous Campbell hot wings. Other than in the fall, Sunday is alright.

3. Thursday

Friday eve.

2. Friday

Friday vibes are always energetic and hopeful for a good weekend. A lot of things to look forward to.

1. Saturday

For the boys!

Senioritis

Senioritis is real.

I remember being a sophomore and joking about senioritis. I would say, “I’ve had senioritis since Freshman year!”

JDblue17_041.jpg
Found this pic of me and my friends. Senior year has flown by!

It wasn’t until second semester of senior year when I felt the full effects of this disease. It is real and it is not as fun as I thought. Going to school feels useless. All of my classes are pretty much a study hall (except for Journalism of course).

As a young lad I thought senioritis would involve skipping classes and bullying Freshman in the halls. In reality, it is watching Netflix in almost every bell, searching up colleges with the hottest chicks (Miami is #1 according to Total Frat Move), and watching Fortnite videos on Youtube.

Also, Senior lunch isn’t even cool. I don’t have time in the morning to make a lunch so I always end up buying somewhere. I probably spend between $20-30 a week on lunch. We are always rushed to finish so we can get back to school on time and we can’t go too far away. The furthest we have gone is Rally’s on Red Bank and we had to bring our food to fifth bell.

My inspiration for this post was from about 30 minutes ago when I had a short convo with a nice young woman at Walgreen’s. She was the register lady at Walgreen’s and she had graduated from Mariemont a couple years ago. I told her I was buying two folders for the senior research paper. We proceeded to talk about how senior year is a joke and how the SRP is really the only important work we do.

I love shells and husks.

Thanks for reading my angry post.

Willy’s Top 5: Pop-Tarts

giphy

My second favorite snack.

Pop-Tarts are one of my favorite foods. They are very delicious, they come in many different flavors, they can be consumed any time of the day.

Although I do love eating doors, Pop-Tarts are more enjoyable. There are still numerous flavors I have not tried, but here is my top five favorite Pop-Tart flavors so far:

5. Strawberry

Sweet frosting decorated with rainbow sprinkles and filled with strawberry-flavored goodness. Gotta love the classic strawberry flavor. I grew up eating these and I plan on eating them forever.

4. S’mores

Chocolate and marshmallow filling camped out inside a chocolate-frosted graham cracker crust. I recommend toasting these bad boys. The perfect crisp outside and creamy inside is a great combo.

3. Brown Sugar Cinnamon

The very tasty combo of brown sugar and cinnamon comes through in every single bite of frosting, filling and golden crust. This used to be my favorite flavor until I got introduced to more delicious flavors.

2. Cookies & Creme

The explanation is in the name. I do not know how someone can’t like these.

1. Hot Fudge Sundae

With a chocolate crust, smooth vanilla filling, vanilla and fudge icing, and colorful sprinkles, this chomp-able sundae is a thing of beauty. These guys were my motivation to get out of bed and to get through the school day.

91haugUS3CL._SY355_.jpgHonorable Mention: Strawberry Milkshake

I tried these for the first time last week and was not sure what to think. They were good but not great. Putting them in the freezer for a little is a cool life hack that I found out!

*Feel free to comment what I should rank next!

Willy’s Top Five: Fortnite Guns

Fortnite Battle Royale is a 100 player PvP survival game. The last man standing wins and only the strongest survive.

Fortnite has recently taken a large portion of my free time. I’m engaged in what the game has to offer. I have ranked what my ideal weapon loot would be.

Here are my top five favorite guns in Fortnite:

5. Legendary Hand Cannon

Fornite’s newest weapon. The power and control that this gun holds is breathtaking. One shot to the head and that’s an easy kill.

4. Legendary Bolt-Action Sniper

This sniper is perfect for a long range “yip”. With sniping skills like mine, you can drop enemies like flies when you have a strong base set up.

3. Uncommon Pump Shotgun

Only the skilled players love this gun. The “Pump Shotty” is great for close-range duels. Missing a

shot in a one on one fight will cost you. Reloading this weapon takes away critical time in a fight.

2. Legendary Sploody Boy (RPG)

Great weapon for taking down a base or eliminating a whole squad. Only bad thing is that is may be hard to find rockets.

1. Legendary SCAR

By far the strongest gun in the game. Beautiful accuracy and damage power.

Great for almost any distance. A few shots to the head and it’s game over.

Willy’s Top 5: Netflix Shows

Wait, what?! This isn’t a food review!

That’s right, willyswonderlandblog is no longer a food review blog. Food reviews are lame and soooo last year.

What’s next? Willy’s Top 5. My new blog will feature my top five favorite things from different categories. I plan to write about Netflix, food, music, etc.

Today, I will be ranking my five favorite Netflix shows.

5. Lost (2004-2010)

Lost is about a plane that crashes on a mysterious island. You never know what to expect with this show. Lost was the first show that I ever binge-watched. This was the first show that really got me into Netflix.

4. Black Mirror (2011-now)

I don’t even know how to describe Black Mirror. It’s just crazy. None of the episodes relate to previous ones which makes the show unique. I would recommend to anyone who likes suspenseful dramas.

3. The Office (2005-2013)

I know everyone loves The Office and thinks it’s the best show on Netflix. If you think it should be ranked #1, you have not browsed all of what Netflix has to offer. It is still a great show and will always be relevant. Michael Scott will always be one of the best TV characters of all time.

2. Stranger Things (2016-now)

When I saw the first episode, I didn’t like it at all. It was weird and confusing so I stopped. Months later a co-worker talked me into watching the show and it was the best decision I had ever made.

1. Breaking Bad (2008-2013)

I remember my dad watching Breaking Bad when I was a little guy. He would always say, “get out I’m about to turn on Breaking Bad.” I guess he thought it was too inappropriate for my little eyes. I started the series last year and finished it in less than a month. It was too hard to stop watching. Great actors and story-line.

Honorable mention:

Shameless (2011-now)

I was first introduced to Shameless from watching a few minutes everyday     with my sister. I thought it was weird. When I ran out of shows to watch, Shameless was there for me. I’ve never been so attached to fictional characters before watching this show.

The League (2009-2015)

I love fantasy football and I love guys being dudes. This show put my two favorite things together to make a great comedy for my sophomoric maturity.

Feel free to comment what should be my next topic for Willy’s Top 5!

Starlight Peppermints vs. Lifesavers Peppermints

Everyone hates state tests! The only good thing about it is the mints. So why not review them?!

The Ohio Government Air Test was today for all seniors, we spent the first four bells

IMG_4377
Starlight Peppermint (Left) and Lifesavers Peppermint (Right).

eating mints and answering questions.

With the help from a great pal, Maddy Kromer, I came up with the idea of reviewing the free mints!

My first option was the famous Starlight mints. In my opinion, these mints are lame and bland. I’ve had so many of these in my lifetime that it has gotten old. I wouldn’t consider these to

That doesn’t mean I won’t grab one when I’m walking out of a restaurant. When I see one, I’ll take it.

On the other hand, the Lifesavers Peppermints are delicious. They have “an icy, wintergreen taste” and I love it. I could eat those all day.

I had a percent of preference of mint I would choose Lifesavers 80% of the time.

Thanks.

Freschetta Brick Oven Pizza

As I got home from a tough loss in bowling tonight, I was filled with anger and hunger. I was hangry!

The only solution to this problem was a nice pepperoni pizza. Good thing I had a Freschetta Brick Oven Crust Pepperoni and Italian Style Cheese Pizza with Mozzarella and Parmesan Cheeses made with 100% real cheese and preservative free crust in the freezer!

I popped that baby in the oven for 17 minutes. The longest 17 minutes of my life.

Finally, the hot pizza was ready and I was prepared for indulging.

The pizza, U.S. inspected and passed by the department of agriculture, was glistening with grease and crispy around the crust. Just how I like it.

I never complain about pizza because it’s always good. Except if it has vegetables on it.

The pizza was good, not great. It could have used more cheese. Other than that I think it had the perfect amount of sauce and pepperoni.

I have had many better pizzas in my lifetime, but I still enjoyed every bite of this one.

Overall 7/10.

Thanksgiving!

For this blog post I will be doing something I’ve never done before.

A reverse food review! (No, this doesn’t mean the food will be reviewing me). I will be reviewing my traditional Thanksgiving feast in advance!

Almost every year my family and I go down to Virginia for the week and have our Thanksgiving shenanigans with 30+ Kempers at my Granduncle’s farm.

NIa2EZqySFaaJaBfl6xS_mexican-wedding-cookies-6035
Mexican wedding cookies! Can’t wait to eat too many of these bad boys over break.

I love Thanksgiving because everyone brings different foods. Some of these foods are

only found once a year for me! Foods like cheesy baked potatoes and Mexican wedding cookies.

Some of the foods found at the Kemper Thanksgiving feast are turkey, chicken, ham, potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, and much more. The Kempers love meat.

What trumps all of the delicious food that I devour over break is my moms homemade pecan pie. When it’s fresh out of the oven and topped with vanilla ice cream….uhhh yes. People who hate on pecan pie are people I do not associate with.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of the year. I can’t wait for football, family, and of course, food! Hopefully I don’t gain five pounds this week.

Thanksgiving feast is usually a 12/10 overall.

BBQ Chicken Pizza

Once again I waited last minute to write this blog post. Good thing I work every Sunday and I can bring home tasty meals.

IMG_4234
The warm pizza glistens as I open the box.

On the weekends at the Deupree House, the menu options are much more delicious and appealing. Today, since Cook Steve loves me, I was able to get a freshly made personal sized pizza.

I decided to go with BBQ Chicken because that’s one of my favorites.

The pizza included chicken, bacon, onions, and BBQ sauce.

The first thing I noticed was the sweet taste. Steve used a mustard-based sauce instead of

a traditional ketchup based BBQ sauce. It was still very good.

The crust was the perfect size. Crispy and thin. Much better than a thick and chewy crust like Papa Johns or Domino’s.

I found this pizza to be very similar to Mio’s. Unfortunately it was not as great as a Mio’s BBQ Chicken pizza, but it would still be ranked as one of the best I’ve had.

My only complaint was that the onions were floppy and soft. I prefer grilled and crispy.

Overall 9/10.
